SPORTS INFRASTRUCTURE IN RCF

Established in 1985, Rail Coach Factory is a coach manufacturing unit of Indian Railways. RCF has already carved a niche in the industrial scenario of the country at large and Indian Railways, in particular.

​

The factory is located at a distance of 7 kms. from the historical city of Kapurthala. The integrated township is very well planned and boasts of lush green surroundings. It is considered one of the best residential complexes in the country.


RCF colony has a beautiful lake complex, a large sports stadium, an 18-hole golf course, synthetic lawn-tennis courts, Astroturf Hockey Stadium, international size swimming pool, skating rink and other sports facilities.

Right from its inception, due to the positive outlook of former and present General Managers , RCF has built a strong foundation for growth of Sports amongst  the  employees and their wards . The Maharaja Ranjit Singh stadium was part of the initial  setup  of RCF.

Sports in RCF is being run and managed by RCF Sports Association.  GM acts as Patron RCFSA. RCFSA is headed by a President and an Honorary General Secretary. Sports activities are looked after by Sports Department headed by a Sports Officer who reports to President & Honorary General Secretary of RCFSA.

Hockey Stadium with Astroturf & Silver Jubilee Hostel

This Stadium serves as the Hockey Academy Of Indian Railways. It started in the year 2009. The astro turf was relaid in the year 2017. It has recently been augmented with provision of Flood Lighting System to enable night matches.

​

It is used for daily  practicing of RCF men, women teams & wards of RCF employees. It hosts the All India Railway  Hockey Championship for Men & Women teams. It also serves for holding various All India Railway Camps for Hockey and other sports such as Cricket, Wrestling, Basket Ball etc.

The hockey academy boasts of producing international and national hockey stalwarts. Former Olympian Pargat Singh, Dilip Tirkey current president of IHF, Krishna Pathak the current Indian goalkeeper, the women hockey Olympians Ms. Lalremsiami, Ms. Navjot Kaur and Ms. Reena Khokar  are the few outstanding Indian hockey stars that this academy has produced.

The Hockey academy boasts of providing state of the art sporting facilities in the campus.

Six a Side Astro Turf Ground

This facility is near to completion. It is laid with astro turf surface and a computerized sprinkler system. It will be used for conducting six a side hockey matches in future and will also serve as a warm up area for hockey teams.

 

Maharaja Ranjit Singh Stadium

It started functioning from 1989

Apart from serving the RCF athletes , Footballers , Basket Ball players and Volley Ball players it also serves the RCF employees and their wards for their  routine walks and jogging activities.

This stadium houses the following facilities.

  1. 8 Lane Cinder Track – used for AIR Cross Country Championships

  2. Football Ground        – AIR Football Championship Indian Rlys. Coaching camps

  3. Throwing Arena        – For practicing of RCF throwers

  4. Indoor Wrestling Hall with 72 mats

  5. Weightlifting Hall

  6. Volley Ball Court

  7. 02 Nos. Basketball Courts -PU Based all weather cushioned flooring & Flood lights

  8.  Air conditioned Multi Gym

Besides the above facilities it has 4000 seating capacity, Air Conditioned VIP Lounge, 2 dormitories , 6 Rooms with Complete linen for 15 beds and Water cooler with RO

 

Swimming Pool

RCF has its own international standard swimming pool with Diving platform. It started in the year 1995.  It has the following facilities.

  1. Covered seating for 1000 spectators

  2. Separate changing/ wash rooms for Gents & ladies

  3. Office

 

18 holes Golf course and Driving range

RCF proudly owns a 18 Hole Golf Course. It is one of the best in this region. It started as a 9 hole course in the year 1989. RCF Golf team has won the All India Railway Golf Championship several times owing to this well maintained course.

It provides the following

Cricket Ground

RCF possesses a lush green Cricket ground of international size of 80 yards. The pitches have been prepared under the supervision of  certified BCCI curators. It is used for practice by RCF cricket teams and training of wards of RCF employees. RCF also conducts AIR Cricket League phase.

It has the following key features.

  2. Out field with selection one grass.

Sports Hostel Men & Women

Separate hostels for Men and Women active sportsperson of RCF sports team in various games. Each of the hostel has 4 Rooms with 4 beds each  along with attached kitchen & bathroom

 Tennis Court

02 Synthetics Tennis Courts have been provided for employees and their wards. These courts have proper lighting facility.
